Charlie is a graduate of both SFU (Communications) and UBC (BSW, MSW), and has 25+ years of varied experience in the counselling/consulting field. In addition to maintaining a private practice, Charlie has worked in health care and education settings as well.

He has a wealth of experience serving the needs children, adolescents, couples and individuals presenting with a variety of issues. Issues ranging from anxiety and depression, grief, relationship conflict, parent teen issues, and a variety of issues specific to the experiences of student athletes, including: performance anxiety, coping with failure, coping with injury, sport identity issues, pressure and expectations, body image, disordered eating, retirement from sport, procrastination, burnout.

For the past 3 years he has been working with NCAA student - athletes, across 9 sports (basketball, women’s softball, women’s volleyball, soccer, men’s football, golf, swimming, track and field, and wrestling) providing general mental health support as well as sport performance training and consulting. Charlie’s background as a high performance athlete, coach, and coach trainer, combined with his experience as a therapist and consultant, allows him to be a valuable resource to student - athletes, both high school and post secondary, as they continue along their developmental journey in athletics, and in life.

Charlie is currently focusing on providing counselling services to Student-Athletes, Couples, Parents/Teens.

Since beginning his career, Charlie has taken ongoing training from Developmental Psychologist and author (Hold on to Your Kids) Dr. Gordon Neufeld, and is Neufeld Level 2 Certified through the Neufeld Institute.

He is also Level 1 certified in Gottman Couple’s Therapy and is trained in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. He has conducted in excess of 60 debriefings in the public and private sector.

In his free time, Charlie enjoys coaching youth sports, playing golf, and hiking with his dog Finnigan. He loves cooking, reading, listening to music, and finishing ahead of his children in March Madness pools.
